I’m a part-time PhD student, based within the Media Arts department at Royal Holloway, University of London. I’m writing my thesis about Women & Film magazine and the early women’s film movement in America. Alongside this, I’m collaborating with several other women to produce a documentary about the story of the magazine and the people behind it. You can find out more about that here.
I received a first class undergraduate masters degree from the University of Edinburgh in English Literature and History of Art (2009). After taking a year out working in London, I continued with a Masters in Art History at the Courtauld Institute of Art, specialising in postwar and contemporary art, performance and installation. I wrote my MA dissertation on the first American feminist film festival, The International Festival of Women’s Films that took place in 1972, a topic which partly informed my current PhD research.
I’m a Londoner, currently living in the Scottish highlands. I’ve worked as an art and art history teacher in a secondary school, a bookseller and a web editor (whatever that is).
