I’m a London-based academic, currently teaching film and television studies at Royal Holloway, University of London and University for the Creative Arts, Kent. I received my PhD from Royal Holloway in 2018 with my thesis on the history of Women & Film magazine. I’m also working on a documentary about the story of the magazine and the people behind it. You can find out more about that here.
I received a first class undergraduate masters degree from the University of Edinburgh in English Literature and History of Art (2009). I also hold a Masters in Art History from the Courtauld Institute of Art (2011), where I specialised in postwar and contemporary art, performance and installation. I wrote my MA dissertation on the first American feminist film festival, The International Festival of Women’s Films that took place in 1972.
I’ve worked as an art and art history teacher in a secondary school, a bookseller in several bookshops and often freelance as web editor for the British Film Institute.
